Hrugnir was one of the most powerful giants in Norse mythology.
In Norse MythologyEdit
- Hrungnir made a bet with Odin that his steed Sleipnir couldn't beat him and Gullfaxi in a race. During the race, Hrungnir enters Valhalla and becomes drunk. The gods get tired of him and call Thor to battle him.
- When Thor battles Hrungnir, he launches a whetstone into Thor's head. Thor smashes it and a piece lodges itself in his head. Thor's hammer, Mjölnir still manages to hit Hrungnir, and kills him. He then topples over on top of Thor and Thor becomes stuck underneath the giant's leg. Only his son Magni can lift the giant's leg off of his father's throat.
